What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is how often, and how accurately, your brand appears in the answers people get from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. When someone asks one of them for the best option in your category, a handful of brands get named. The rest are not ranked lower, they are simply absent from the answer.
The answer is the shortlist
A search results page gives ten options and lets the reader choose. An AI answer names three and moves on. Being absent from that list is not a lower position, it is not being in the conversation.
You are described, not just listed
Engines say what you are good at, who you suit, and how you compare. That description is assembled from what the web says about you, and it is often out of date or plain wrong.
None of it shows up in your analytics
A buyer who asks an engine, gets an answer, and never clicks leaves no trace in your traffic. You cannot see the conversations you are losing without measuring the answers themselves.
It responds to work
Engines pull from sources they trust. Which pages they cite, and what those pages say about you, is something you can influence once you can see it.
How is AI visibility measured?
There is no single industry metric. These are the four we report, and what each one actually counts.
- Visibility
- The share of collected answers that mention your brand at all. If we ask a hundred questions in your category and you are named in forty of the answers, your visibility is 40 percent.
- Share of voice
- Your slice of every brand mention across those answers. Visibility says whether you appear, share of voice says how much of the conversation is yours once you do.
- Sentiment
- How positively the engine describes you, scored 0 to 10 from the words used around each mention. A brand with no scored mentions reads as not measured, never as a zero.
- Citations
- How often an engine links to your pages as a source. Being named and being cited are different problems, and they need different fixes.
A good score is relative, not absolute. What matters is your position against the competitors you actually lose deals to, and which direction it moves over time, which is why the report always shows you beside your tracked competitor set rather than against a made up benchmark.
Which AI search platforms do we check?
Three engines, the same prompts, run the way a real buyer would ask.
ChatGPT
The one your buyers use most, and the one most likely to name a shortlist without linking to anyone.
ChatGPT trackerGemini
The Gemini assistant, drawing on Google's index and its own idea of which sources are authoritative.
Gemini trackerPerplexity
The most citation-heavy of the three, which makes it the clearest read on which pages engines trust in your category.

AI visibility vs traditional SEO: what actually changes
The work overlaps, the scoreboard does not.
| Classic SEO | AI search | |
|---|---|---|
| What you measure | Rank for a keyword, clicks, impressions | Whether you are named in the answer, and how you are described |
| What the user sees | Ten links to choose between | One answer naming two or three brands |
| What wins you a place | Relevance, authority, technical health | Being named, compared and recommended on sources the model trusts |
| Role of your own site | The thing being ranked | One source among many, and only if engines can read it |
| How you track it | Rank trackers and analytics | Running real prompts and reading the answers, since there is no click to count |
What the report actually tells you to do
Every item below maps to a section of the report, not to generic advice.
Fix the topics where you are absent
The topics section shows which parts of your category name you and which never do. An absent topic is a content brief.
Go where the citations already are
The sources section lists the domains engines cite when answering about your category. Getting mentioned on those pages moves you faster than anything on your own site.
Close the gap between buyer types
Visibility is rarely even across personas. The one where you drop off tells you whose language your content is missing.
Correct how you are described
Sentiment is taken from the words used around each mention. A low score usually traces back to a specific outdated claim you can go and fix.
Treat each engine separately
Being absent from one engine is a different problem from being named everywhere but never linked. The engine breakdown separates the two.
Make sure engines can read your site
The readiness checks tell you whether crawlers can fetch your pages at all. An engine that cannot read you cannot cite you, and no content work fixes that.

AI visibility is how often, and how accurately, your brand appears in the answers people get from AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. When someone asks for the best option in your category, a handful of brands get named. AI visibility measures whether you are one of them.
By running real questions through the engines and reading the answers. We report four numbers: visibility, the share of answers that mention you at all; share of voice, your slice of all brand mentions; sentiment, how positively you are described on a 0 to 10 scale; and citations, how often engines link to your pages as a source.
There is no universal benchmark, and anyone quoting one is guessing. What matters is where you sit against the competitors you actually lose deals to, and whether that gap is closing or widening. The report always shows you beside your tracked competitor set for exactly that reason.
No. SEO measures where you rank on a results page a person then chooses from. AI visibility measures whether you are named inside a single answer that names two or three brands and stops. The work overlaps, the scoreboard does not.
Yes. One report per domain, no card, no account. We build it because the fastest way to explain what GEOflux does is to show you your own data.
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. We run the same prompt set against all three, because the same question often gets three different shortlists.
About an hour. We generate the prompts, topics and personas for your category, run them across the three engines, then email you a link to the finished report.
We generate them from your domain and your category: the questions a buyer would actually type when comparing options like yours. Inside the product you can edit them, add your own, and change the personas asking them.
We send you the report, and we may follow up once to ask if it was useful. The phone field is optional and only used if you would rather we walk you through the results. Details are in our privacy policy.
Nothing automatic. The report is a snapshot of one run. If you want the numbers tracked over time, with your own prompts and competitors, that is what the product does, and you can start from the pricing page.
